Covington Plant: Industry of the Year!

Locally-based businesses and emerging leaders were honored Saturday night at the Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce’s gala. Sugaright Covington received the coveted "Industry of the Year" award.

Business and leadership awards were given in several categories with chamber members sending in entries earlier this month. A panel of chamber executives from other counties judged the entries to determine winners.

The Covington Leader reports:

“Sugaright was nominated because it is a company with an internal culture focused first and foremost on their greatest asset, its employees. Recently awarded the TOSHA Governor’s Award of Excellence in Safety and Health, it is growing by leaps and bounds, and always visible in community events.”

Scott Shirk, Sugaright Covington Plant Manager, thanked his team with these words:

“This is a HUGE deal and everyone should be excited about it, especially considering the other great industries in our community. We won this award for several reasons, including growth, investment in our plant, job creation, safety performance, and community involvement. Each week, I talk about what a great company Sugaright is; on Saturday we received an award that reflects this!”

The Sugaright plant in Covington is in a flurry of activity as it is busy adding new capacity and new technology. The plant has attracted significant new business for 2018, and is proud to add new jobs and opportunities in the area.
