Agents of Change

Sugaright has been asking the industry to Change the Way it Thinks About Sugar and so we support the creation of another agent of change: The Sustainable Food Policy Alliance.

For many years Unilever, Danone, Nestle and Mars have published sustainable sourcing goals, but they realized that by creating a pre-competitive organization, they can move faster and be more effective. And so these four companies created the Sustainable Food Policy Alliance.

Together, we seek to accelerate the pace of change in the food industry through leadership and action that raises the bar and inspires further action on this critical journey.

The alliance will lobby in five policy areas that it says are of interest to modern consumers: product transparency, nutrition, the environment, food safety and a positive workplace for food and agriculture workers. The four companies say they have coordinated on these issues in the past, and view the formalized alliance as a means to more aggressively petition lawmakers and regulators.”

Sugaright is walking the same talk.

We understand how government policy can impact the domestic and global sugar industry and we have been a vocal advocate in D.C. for fairer trade practices which benefit food processors and end consumers.

We also understand consumer demand for greater transparency in the supply chain. To fulfill these requirements, we offer Bonsucro Chain of Custody Certified Sugar. We believe that Bonsucro offers the most efficient platform to gather and report sustainable metrics and continuous progress in our global supply chain.

The founding companies of the Sustainable Food Policy Alliance are setting an example for the rest of the industry to accelerate change.
