Americans Love Ice Cream!!

Back in 1984, July was designated National Ice Cream Month by presidential decree. Americans were “ordered” to observe the month with appropriate ceremonies and activities. As the average American eats roughly 20 pounds of ice cream per year, or about 4 gallons, celebrating this popular past time is familiar and fun. According to recent statistics only New Zealanders eat more ice cream than Americans globally.

And the most popular flavors? You guessed it: Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry with Mint Chocolate Chip not far behind.

Over 10 years ago, Sugaright asked the ice cream industry to reconsider their low color specifications for liquid sucrose, and they did. The industry became one of the first adapters of accepting a darker color color spec and now L350 is the sweetener of choice for ice cream makers large and small. Most of it is sold directly to large manufacturers, but significant volumes are also sold to smaller companies through Allstar Purchasing and QCS, our partners in supplying the dairy industry. According to an IDFA survey, most ice cream companies are family owned and have been in operation for more than 50 years!

Wanting to do our patriotic duty, our Sugaright Refineries were “ordered” to have an ice cream party for the team. It was tough, but somebody had to do it.

We hope you enjoy the photos of these parties, and if you haven’t had a party of your own, August works just as well! Enjoy!
