Sugaright Celebrates World Food Safety Day

Food safety is an issue that transcends international borders. Foodborne pathogens and illnesses do not recognize boundaries or borders, so when it comes to protecting consumers, neither should we. It’s estimated that foodborne illnesses are responsible for 420,000 deaths annually around the world, 125,000 of them in children under age 5. Taking a world view of food safety is important for all consumers because food moves globally, as do we.

World Food Safety Day aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism and sustainable development.

This year’s theme, ‘Safe food today for a healthy tomorrow’, stresses that production and consumption of safe food has immediate and long-term benefits for people, the planet and the economy. Recognizing the systemic connections between the health of people, animals, plants, the environment and the economy will help us meet the needs of the future.

Sugaright fully supports this united effort to advance the prevention, detection and mitigation of foodborne risks, but this is not something we do just one day a year. At Sugaright, one of our core values is that "we always do the right thing," and we maintain good food safety practices every day, 365 days a year. It all begins with a strong food safety culture, and the culture is supported by strong supplier approval programs, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Sanitation Practices, food safety training, 3rd party auditing, and partnerships with our customers.

As we look to the future beyond World Food Safety Day, Sugaright continues to invest in people, processes, and equipment that improve our performance.

Another of our core values is that " we continuously improve and measure everything we do," and we use data to examine, analyze, and improve our processes to ensure our customers receive only the highest quality product.

We care about the safety or our products, and our we want our customers and ultimate consumers to be confident in the safety of our food supply.

Please have a safe and happy World Food Safety Day.
